PINK PEPPERCORN SHAWL
PINK PEPPERCORN is a cozy asymmetrical triangular shawl worked in worsted-weight. It is knitted from side to side with an easy lace motif and mini bobbles scattered across its generous width, culminating in a cushy brioche rib. With a vibrantly-hued spice like the pink peppercorn it takes inspiration from, this shawl is bedecked with tassels and pompoms (optional of course!).

Pink peppercorn as an ingredient originated in Peru and has a mildly spicy bite with sweet, fruity undertones. Everyone in my family loves to eat. At home in my kitchen, I rarely go by recipes. I love experimenting with unusual combinations and I’m delighted when the results go over well. I’ve tried to reflect these unusual combinations in the design of this knit, creating an explosion of textures and techniques.

Just a gentle precaution, however! Although a peppercorn is the dried fruit of a plant from the genus Piper, pink peppercorns came to be called such only because they resemble peppercorns, and because they, too, have a peppery flavor. As they are actually members of the cashew family, they may cause allergic reactions including anaphylaxis for persons with a tree nut allergy. I have made notes on substitutions you can use in the recipe at the back of the pattern.
